Bahria University CGPA Calculator & Grading Scale (2026 Guide)

A Bahria University CGPA calculator has to use Bahria’s own scale, and that scale is different from almost every other university in Pakistan. Bahria has only seven letter grades, no minus grades, a B+ worth 3.50 instead of 3.33, and an A that starts at 87%. A generic calculator built on the usual HEC table will give you the wrong number. The calculator and guide below use the grading system published in Bahria University’s official Academic Rules, so your result matches what your transcript will show at BUIC, BUKC or BULC.

Source note: every rule on this page comes from Bahria’s official Academic Rules page (last updated January 2025). If your faculty has issued a newer notification, that takes priority, and your CMS result is always the final word.

Bahria University CGPA Calculator: The Official 7-Grade Scale

The Bahria University CGPA calculator above follows absolute grading: fixed percentage bands decide your grade, regardless of how the rest of the class performs. Your total marks in a course are rounded to the nearest whole number before the grade is assigned, so 86.5% becomes 87% and moves you from B+ to A.

GradeMarks (%)Grade PointsMeaning
A87โ€“1004.00Outstanding
B+80โ€“863.50Very good
B72โ€“793.00Above average
C+66โ€“712.50Satisfactory
C60โ€“652.00Barely acceptable
D50โ€“591.50Poor
FBelow 500.00Fail

W (withdrawal) and I (incomplete) carry no grade points. Three things make this scale unusual, and they are exactly why a Bahria University CGPA calculator has to be built on it. First, the steps are half points (4.00, 3.50, 3.00, 2.50) rather than thirds. Second, a D is worth 1.50, not 1.00, so a weak pass hurts less than at most universities. Third, the A band is narrow: 87% is a higher bar than the 85% many universities use.

How the Bahria University CGPA Calculator Works

Behind the scenes, the Bahria University CGPA calculator uses the standard credit-hour weighted formula used across HEC-recognised universities:

GPA = ฮฃ (grade points ร— credit hours) รท ฮฃ credit hours

Here is a typical semester run through the Bahria University CGPA calculator:

GPA = 51.50 รท 17 = 3.03

Why a generic calculator gets Bahria wrong

Run the same transcript through a calculator that uses the common table (B+ = 3.33, C+ = 2.33) and you get 50.31 รท 17 = 2.96. That's the same marks and the same grades, but a GPA that falls below 3.00. For a scholarship or job shortlist with a 3.00 cut-off, the wrong scale is the difference between qualifying and not. This is why Bahria students should always use a Bahria University CGPA calculator built on Bahria's own grade points.

Your CGPA uses the same formula across all semesters' courses combined, not an average of your semester GPAs. For the full method, read our guide on how to calculate CGPA in Pakistan.

Probation, Chance and Dismissal at Bahria

Check your standing with the Bahria University CGPA calculator every semester, because Bahria's academic standing rules are stricter in structure than most students realise:

  • Probation: you are placed on probation if your CGPA falls below 2.00 but stays above 1.50.
  • Limits: a four-year undergraduate programme allows three probations, followed by one Chance status.
  • Chance status: if you've used your probations, you must bring your CGPA above 2.00 to avoid being dropped.
  • Removal: if your CGPA falls below 1.50, or doesn't recover to 2.00 after your probations and Chance, you are removed from the programme.

The minimum CGPA for an undergraduate degree is 2.00, which matches the national floor set by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Master's programmes require 2.50.

Repeating a Course to Improve Your CGPA

Bahria lets you repeat a course only if your grade was C+ or lower, and only within one year of the result being declared. Every attempt stays on your transcript, but only your highest attempt counts toward your CGPA. Because a C+ is worth 2.50, repeating a 3-credit C+ and earning an A adds 4.50 quality points, often enough to lift your CGPA by a noticeable margin early in your degree. Test the effect in the Bahria University CGPA calculator before you register for the repeat.

One more rule that silently costs grades: you must attend at least 75% of contact hours in each course. Fall short and you aren't allowed to sit the final exam, and the course is graded F.

Graduating With Honours

Bahria prints honours on your transcript based on your final CGPA: Cum Laude for 3.60โ€“3.79, Magna Cum Laude from 3.80, and Summa Cum Laude for 3.95โ€“4.00. Because A is the only grade worth 4.00 and it starts at 87%, Summa Cum Laude at Bahria is a genuinely hard target. Track your progress toward these thresholds with the Bahria University CGPA calculator at the top of this page.
